June - A month in review

13 Recommendations

No change on the recommendation front. I'll crack on with this as I'm lagging behind.
13 Recipes:

Nothing new done yet, but I've a fantastic idiots guide for pizza that I'll share with you all when I've done my version.

13 Meals Out:

No new places this month. Any recommendations? Family places and date night places.

13 Random Acts of kindness:

I really need to make more of an effort.

13 Letters:

I wrote a letter! Deliberately didn't blog about it, and I'm not going to make the contents public, but I wrote to my Dad for Fathers day, and it was good. More to come.

13 Blogs per month:

6 in a row. Half way there.

13 Family days out:

Weather is picking up, time to start planning!

13 New Foods:

I ate Venison and totally forgot to blog about it. I still have the photos though, so it will roll over to July

£13 for Charity per month:

8 donations done, so still ahead of the game

13/30 Autographs:

7/30. Just need one a month now!

13 (minimum) Postcrossing:

10 sent and 11 received. So close I can taste it!

13 (minimum) Geocaches:

I think the boy and I need to start going on walks and hunting for these together this summer..

13 @Replies or Retweets from famous people:

Challenge completed!

Autograph - Holly (with added Phillip).

Well, this is a tricky one. What we have here is a double autograph... as well at the lovely Holly Willoughby, this has also been signed by her dad, Phillip Schofield.

Now, Phillip wasn't on my list of 30, but as I'm sure everyone reading this remembers, Gordon T Gopher was... and while Gordon himself hasn't replied to my request, it could certainly be argued that Schofe has a hand in the gophers success. So I put it to you dear readers. Does this count as one, or two?

Autograph - Lisa Stansfield

In researching this blog post, I found out that Lisa is not a one hit wonder. She is, at the very least, a one and a half hit wonder. Remember this bad lad?

No? Neither do I, but Lisa probably does. And in a very real sense, isn't that the important thing?

Autograph - Anneka Rice

Another 80's legend, the unusually spelt Anneka Rice.

Nevermind her Radio 2 show, we all know the real reason why she is famous. Sing along!!

and to far lesser extent

Good times, great memories.

Post Crossing Update

I got another card. This is my 11th after only posting 10, so I'm really unsure what the rules of the site actually are!

On the plus side, I am now only 2 cards away from completing another challenge. I've got 3 more addresses (Japan, Germany and USA), so while they might not arrive in July, I'm bang on target for the end of the year.

Celebrity Autograph - Dave from Only Fools and Horses

It's a bit odd, because it's clearly a very old picture and I've no idea what he has actually written on it, but it totally counts!

Cosmic.

Twitter Challenge - Completed!

Richard Osman has just retweeted a comment I sent to him, in the old fashioned way so he could add a little joke on the end.

He is a popular boy, as you can see from my e-mail notifications

So that was exciting for a few seconds. More excitingly, this means my first challenge has been 100 % completed! Thanks Richard!

Hiya

EDIT

I have since had a reply to the Tweet from Mark Labbett, otherwise known as The Beast. The Chase vs. Pointless battle continues.

Charity Donation - Cancer Research UK (Race for Life)

Some of you that have been paying attention to my charity donations will remember that a few months ago I donated to my friend Jodie who is doing the Race for Life

Sadly, she and Sophie are now running the race in her Mum's memory as she passed away a few days ago, so I have decided to donate again this month in her memory and I urge anyone reading this, if you have a few pounds spare, please give what you can.

Thanks

More cards! I'm starting to worry they will never stop.

I got another 2 cards today, one from Germany and the other from Russia.

The one from Russia took 25 days to arrive, so the ones that I sent to Russia that are still 'travelling' after 23 days will hopefully arrive in the next few days.

These cards now take me to a total of 10, at this rate I might even finish this challenge before the Twitter one.

Another Postcard

Subtitle... I no longer understand how Postcrossing works!

Somehow (and I'm not complaining as it makes this challenge far easier), I am receiving more cards that have been received from me. I'm pretty sure this is an error, as my address should only be sent to people when a card I sent is registered as received, but who cares! I'm up to 8 now!

This one was my first card from Belarus and the picture is of a Belarusian traditional ornament

Only 5 more cards to go and this challenge will be completed.

Twitter Update - Tim Donst

Yesterday, professional wrestler Tim Donst asked for suggestions for his new cats name. As this is my specialist subject, I chipped in with a suggestion which he enjoyed, and retweeted. (As of writing, he hasn't chosen the name yet, but mine remains one of the favourites)

Anyway, as he has his own wiki page, this fascinating update brings my Twitter total up to 12, meaning the next famous person to Tweet (or retweet me) will complete my first challenge. Exciting times, I'm sure you will all agree!

And for those of you who don't know who Donst is (i.e. everyone reading this), here he is in action.

Autograph - Neville Southall

I'm very pleased with this one. An autograph from Everton legend and the best goalkeeper/binman I've ever seen. Big Neville Southall. Picture seems to be out of the ark, but I doubt he has reason for up to date headshots.

What a man!

PostCrossing - 2 more cards

This morning I received 2 more cards from Posrcrossing, one from Finland and the other from China. The Chinese card is easily my favourite that I have received so far.

That now means I've received 7 cards, even though only 6 of the cards I sent have been registered as recieved. Which I didn't think was possible, but it does put me slightly ahead of the game for June. Only 5 more cards needed to complete this challenge!
